Hi everyone, I’m super excited about this post because it is the first installment of a brand new series where I will be reviewing my favorite tech gadgets of the year…mostly I’m ecstatic because I get to talk about all the nerdy gizmos I love, LOL.  First up, Apple’s newly redesigned MacBook Pro and essentially the most important tool in my arsenal.  I could go on and on about the reasons I love the Macbook Pro but I will try to keep this post from dragging on, LOL.  Just a little backstory, this is not my first Macbook Pro.  I actually purchased my first MacBook Pro on April 10, 2007 (I know, it’s weird af that I remember that, but I’ve always been good at remembering dates). Back then, Tiger was the version of Mac OS installed on all Apple computers, that was 8 versions back from the current operating system, wow that seems like ages ago.  That laptop served me well for many years but then I decided that I needed a big screen desktop so I purchased a 27″ iMac in 2015.  Now 2 years later I realize how much I miss the mobility of a laptop, that coupled with the news that Apple would be doing a complete redesign of the Macbook Pro, and I was literally salivating at the mouth.

Hardware

The first thing I have to say about this laptop is that it is STUNNINGLY beautiful to look at.  That’s something I’ve always appreciated about Apple products…they are equal parts performance and design.  Apple has always placed a ton of emphasis on the aesthetic of their products…of course they perform incredibly well but they are exquisitely designed too.  The hardware just feels good in your hand…the matte keypad has an almost buttery touch when you’re typing on it…the all aluminum body is so light and thin…they really think of every detail in the design of their products.

Handoff

Obviously I’m not going to detail every feature of the Macbook Pro, this post would be 10 pages long if I did, LOL. So I’m going to focus on the features I think you guys really want to know about.  One of my favorite features of not only this Macbook but any Apple creation, is the seamless integration across devices. For me, that’s important because I’m always doing business on my iPhone and the convenience of being able to start a project on my iPhone, then handoff that project to my Macbook to finish up is priceless.  That continuity between my Apple Watch, iPhone 7, and this MBP is one of the main reasons I chose this computer over other manufacturers.

Touch Bar

What sets the new Macbook Pro apart from older models is the addition of a brand new touch bar that offers text and visual cues that change depending on the application you’re running…kinda similar to the predictive text bar on your iPhone but with the ability to do much more.  Truthfully, I’m still getting used to the TouchBar, when I do use it I love it, but the problem is that I forget to use it.  Lately I’ve been trying to force myself to use it more often but it takes time to change old habits.  But I do really like the feature and it’s a great addition to the laptop.

Retina Display

The retina display on the new Macbook is paper thin and powerful boasting LED backlighting and a larger pixel count…which translates to beautifully produced colors that are richer and more vibrant.  I am in love with how my photography looks on this display, the colors literally pop off the screen.  So if you are someone that utilizes your computer for image or video manipulation I would highly suggest upgrading to a Macbook.

Speakers

New louder speakers with better sound have been built into the new Macbook Pro which for me is a welcomed upgrade.  One of my biggest complaints about previous versions of the MBP is that the speaker system sucked, the max volume was very low and the bass was non-existent.  The new speakers however are twice as loud as the last Macbook and the base has been vastly improved.  Although I don’t quite understand why they designed the fake speaker grilles to the left and right of the keypad.  The speaker sound is actually pushed through the vents on the side of the machine so those grilles on the top are purely cosmetic and serve no purpose…but they do look cool.

Price

Overall, I love my new MBP, this model retails for $2399, which let’s face it, that’s a TON of money to spend on a laptop…it’s not something I would recommend for the casual user, but if you are someone that uses a computer for image editing or video production, if you are a blogger or photographer or graphic artist, if you have other Apple products such as an iPhone or iPad and you want integration between those devices, then I highly recommend investing in a Macbook Pro.As always, thanks for reading and please comment below and let me know what tech gadgets you’re currently obsessed with.  I love learning and hearing from you guys.

Spring

I’m often asked by “fashion challenged” guys, what’s the secret to my personal style?  I always find this question difficult to answer because for me, style has always been about a feeling versus a specific trend.  When I style my #OOTD, I select pieces that make me feel good, otherwise what’s the point of getting dressed up if the clothes don’t make you feel almost superhuman, I truly believe fashion has the power to do that.  So in the spirit of the upcoming spring season, here are a few tips to freshen up your wardrobe.  Now if you’re looking for spring “trends”, this is not the post for you because as I said before, true personal style is not about trends, its about having your own unique perspective on fashion.

The Trench-Coat

So lets start with my absolute favorite item to wear during the spring season…the Trench-Coat.  From high-end designers like Burberry to chain stores like H&M and TopMan, there is a huge selection of trench-coats on the market right now at every price point imaginable.  Why? Because throwing a trench-coat on over an outfit instantly takes the sophistication level up a notch.  Its also the one spring staple that you can wear over just about anything whether its distressed jeans, tailored smart trousers, or a full suit…I’ve even paired the trench with athleisure and it actually worked really well.  One of the best features of the trench-coat is that its a light-weight layer so its perfect for that unpredictable spring weather…some are even water-repellent.  So if there were one article of clothing that I suggest adding to your spring arsenal, it would undoubtedly be the Trench.

Color

Currently, I’m OBSESSED with mixing neutral colors together and for the spring season I intend to do this often.  I love the juxtaposition of white and black combined with grey and brown…that color combination just SINGS and instantly freshens up a dull spring wardrobe.  I know a lot of style influencers that love to throw on a ton of bright colors during the spring season, but that’s just not my thing.  I prefer the refinement of wearing neutrals.

Make It Your Own

Lastly, have fun with spring fashion by adding accessories including hats, eyewear, and jewelry.  Accessories can instantly breathe new life into an old outfit so don’t be afraid to pile on bracelets, a nice watch, a cool ring, etc.  Be fearless, be unique, be authentically YOU.  For me, fashion has always been about individuality.

Demetrius - I love this post! the color scheme you got going is actually phenomenal didn’t really think about it that way, but when I seeing it through your eyes I was like aww yeah that is a go lookReplyCancel

Let me immediately start this post by saying, I absolutely love my family…and it was so gratifying to host them at my house on Christmas Day.  We started the day with an incredible breakfast prepared by my brother and his wife, and of course I made some yummy mimosas.  To see my entire family around my dining room table enjoying a meal and enjoying each other was such a wonderful thing to witness.  This is the season of giving and being thankful…and I wouldn’t be able to do all that I do without the unconditional love these amazing people.  I thank God for allowing me to be born into such an incredible family.

My father and brother.

Living in Chicago for most of my life, there is one thing you can always count on, the unpredictable weather….its INSANE how much the temperature can fluctuate from day to day and that’s especially evident during the fall months.  Which is why its a must to add layers to your wardrobe during this time of year.  The genius of layering is that you can always add or remove a layer which is great when you have no idea what type of weather you will encounter from hour to hour.Nyron Fall 2016 Outdoor ChicagoLayering is not as difficult as most guys think it is…here’s the trick, as long as you pay attention to the length of each layer you will look fine.  My suggestion is never wear layers that are all the same length…in this look, you can see that the H & M long fit t-shirt perfectly compliments the slightly shorter fleece hoodie.  I then topped it off with a knee length wool overcoat.  The difference in lengths not only looks more stylish, its a great way to ensure that people actually see the layers you are wearing…if every piece of clothing is the same length it all just kind of blends together…varying your lengths will make each piece stand out on its own.

Travel to Cali 2016

Have you ever traveled to a destination that has such an impact on you that you are forever changed by it.  That was my experience this Labor Day weekend as I ventured to Corona, California to attend one of my best friend’s wedding.  This may surprise you, but I’d NEVER been to California prior to this weekend…and although I’ve always heard incredible things about SoCal, nothing compares to actually being there….California is simply STUNNING…the beautiful landscapes, the crisp air, the lush palm trees, it all has a visceral effect on your soul.
