Happy New Year from the Washingtons

The New Year has always been symbolic of a time of renewal and new beginnings which is why it is one of my favorite times of the year.  I have always loved a fresh start…the opportunity to put the past behind you and start anew.  As we step into 2018, I am reflective of all the amazing experiences I have been blessed to have over the past 365 days.  For me, 2017 will be marked as a very transformative year, particularly in regards to my career, this was the year I decided to stop caring what others think and create content that’s true to who I am as an artist and a person…I am a 44 year old black man that loves fashion and photography and I wanted my platform to be representative of that, whether I was talking about a $1200 Coach bag or some nerdy gizmo I was currently obsessed with, this was the year I threw caution to the wind and just did me, authentically ME.

Career

2017 was the year I finally started to see all my hard work pay off…once I made the decision to only create content that I loved and could stand behind, seems like that’s when others started to notice and I begin to receive opportunities that I never have before.  From all the referrals I received from you guys for photoshoots, to being commissioned to create content for Northwestern University, I achieved some of my greatest career highs this year.  I’m humbled to say that this year my blog received record views, you guys are truly awesome and I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out of your day to visit my blog…if you didn’t enjoy my content and visit frequently I wouldn’t get the opportunities that I have been blessed to have.  Stay tuned in 2018, I have so much to show you guys, content I’m excited to share…thank you for allowing me to have this platform, lets continue to encourage one another to live our best lives.  #positivevibesonly

Personal

This year I was reminded of the fragility of life when my sister passed away at the young age of 49 after a long battle with cancer.  My takeaway from that experience is that you never know when your last day on this planet will be so live everyday like its your last, live life with passion, because all this can be gone in a blink of an eye.  It also reminded me of the importance of taking care of myself so in 2018 I’m making it a priority to stay on top of my exercise and to make better food choices.  In my search to achieve balance in my life I’m learning how important living a healthy lifestyle is to that equation…taking care of your mind, body, and spirit is the key to ultimate happiness and I’m working towards that goal daily.  Its a work in progress to reach a state of positivity but I’ve learned to let go of drama, stop comparing myself to another person’s success, remove negative energy from my circle, and learn to accept myself for exactly who I am.

Family and Friends (and you guys)

Lastly, I want to thank my family and friends for all the support they provide for me to live this crazy life, the people you see in these images are my greatest source of inspiration, I wouldn’t be able to do ALL OF THIS without the unconditional love they pour into my soul…and to each of you that take the time out of your day to read my crazy blog posts, thank you for following my journey on here, I appreciate every comment, DM, & inbox message you have ever left me.  Happy New Year to all of you…the best is yet to come.  Love you all.
